Exploring LA City-Parks: Elysian Park

Sometimes the best adventure is in your own backyard. On a recent weekend where we couldn’t go out of town on a big trip, we made a mini-trip of exploring the hills of Elysian Park. We can walk from our home in Echo Park so we filled a canvas bag with sundowner accoutrements and set off up the Baxter Stairs into the hills.

The tall grasses on the hill had recently gone yellow as the last of our season’s rain was long gone. But the golden-hued hills were almost as gorgeous as when it was bright green.

Spread a blanket for a picnic or make a hike of it by taking the Baxter Stairs up into hiking trails within the park.

What beautiful photos! I think the dried grass makes them look even prettier. ๐Ÿ™‚ I haven’t checked out Elysian Park yet, but it’s so close to downtown, I’m thinking of squeezing in a morning hike before work. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Yep! It’s a great spot. One of of the East Side’s treasures.
